The Story...

To many of us, gardens are a wonderful retreat to escape from hectic busy life and somewhere to feel calm and relaxed within our own small sanctuary and piece of paradise. I have found so much tranquility and soul searching through gardening and it's a way to reacquaint ourselves with nature. Each element of this scarf I have hand drawn and painted with this in mind. Elephants, being my favourite animal since childhood, had to feature as well as flying ibises and tropical trees. A flamboyant statement piece that is sure to bring bursts of colour to any outfit all year round or even framed on the wall.

Illustration Process...

Inspired by the botanical gardens at Kew and colourful Indian flora, I wanted to paint a busy and wild oasis which encapsulated the life of a well tended and loved garden.

Illustrations were made using watercolours and inks, then digitally scanned and edited to be made into the final scarf design.

Manufacture...

Once the final artwork is completed, the design is sent for printing. The scarves are digitally printed onto lovely silk or gorgette fabric in the UK with sustainable water based inks, with an OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certification - in other words, no harmful inks are used.

To finish them off, I hem the edges and they can now be worn all year round as scarves!
