The Making
Of...
ENCHANTED FOREST

The Story...
Do you remember all the tales you were told while cuddled beneath the sheets before sleep? And playing with cardboard swords and crowns of leaves as you run through woods and across fields? The incredible imagination of childhood games and stories fill our heads with bittersweet nostalgia. Our little creative minds can imagine twigs as sharp blades, trees as mighty beasts and small streams as great lakes while floating leaves transform into mighty ships.
I was captivated by these stories I read as a child and all the adventures that childhood imagination can bring while having only nature as our playground. This design brings all of this to life and is framed by words from my own poem.

Illustration Process...
All the fantastical tales of dragons, castles and mystical beasts that live in an enchanted forest are illustrated throughout the landscape of this art. Each creature is as characterful as the world they inhabit. There are goblins that steal riches and fire. Witches that dance to songs and spells. Water nymphs who entice victims to the depths of their lakes and dragons who befriend royals.
Illustrations were made using watercolours and inks, then digitally scanned and edited to be made into the final scarf design.

Manufacture...
Once the final artwork is completed, the design is sent for printing. The scarves are digitally printed onto lovely silk or gorgette fabric in the UK with sustainable water based inks, with an OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certification - in other words, no harmful inks are used.
To finish them off, I hem the edges and they can now be worn all year round as scarves!
